Northeast Philadelphia Grade School Closed Wednesday For Disinfecting After Students Fall Ill

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Nazareth Academy Grade School in the Northeast is closed today because many of the students are experiencing "flu-like symptoms."

The school's principal says a lot of students have been sick this week. She says 55 students were out sick Monday, then 75 students called out sick yesterday. A total of 204 students are enrolled at the school.

At one point yesterday, she says, a math class had only one student.

School officials say that while students are experiencing "flu-like symptoms," there are no confirmed cases of the flu, so far.

Today, crews will continue to disinfect the school facilities as a precaution. Classes are expected to resume tomorrow.
