North Wildwood Police Looking For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Killed Dog

NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) --  North Wildwood Police are looking for the driver who they say struck a dog and then left the scene on Tuesday, January 19.

Officers responded to 6th & Surf Avenues at around 8:30 pm for a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a vehicle striking a dog.

The owner of the dog told police he was walking his dog on a leash when a vehicle struck the dog and continued north on Surf Avenue without stopping.

Police describe the vehicle as possibly a dark colored 2004 Dodge Stratus with front end damage and missing a headlight.

The dog, an Irish Water Spaniel, died as a result of the accident.
