Norristown's Municipal Administrator Responds To Critics Of Their Snow Removal

NORRISTOWN, Pa., (CBS) – The President of Norristown Council has issued an apology for the response to the snow storm.

Norristown council president Sonya Sanders accepts responsibility for storm response, saying "the municipality was not fully prepared."

But Norristown Municipal Administrator Crandall Jones says it's not easy to clear snow from the narrow streets of Norristown.

"It's difficult with on-street parking with no enforceable emergency routes and a hilly topography, it's a challenge," said Jones.

He says there are 52 miles of roads in the 3.4 square miles of Norristown, but he says all streets were opened by midweek.

"It's a small operation, 19 people, wrestling with 52 miles of 30-inch snow," said Jones.

He adds there are lessons to be learned and they will work to make improvements. A community session is planned for the February 2nd council meeting.
