Norristown Home Intruder Shooting Ruled Justified

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Police and prosecutors in suburban Philadelphia have concluded that a man was justified in shooting an intruder in his home a week ago.

Montgomery County authorities said they were called to investigate the death of 22-year-old Daryl Evans, who had been shot early July 28 in a Norristown home.

Officials said the 29-year-old resident responded to a knock on the door and "due to the hour" took his registered semi-automatic handgun while answering it.

Authorities said Evans, who wasn't known to the resident, threatened him with a gun and ordered him inside, and the resident then pulled his gun and shot Evans six times.

Police said Evans had served a 20- to 40-month sentence on aggravated assault charges and was wanted on bench warrants in robbery and drug cases.
