Non-Profit Giving Back To Local Children In Need

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - For the 7th year, a massive collection drive for needy children in the region is taking place Friday and Saturday.

"Shire's Big Give" is a massive collection drive that benefits Cradles to Crayons.

"Anyone from the community can drop-off any gently used clothing, toys, books, new underwear new socks, new batteries, says Betsy Parducci is with Shire Pharmaceuticals. "Anything that a child from birth to 12-years-old can use."

Parducci says one of their goals is to collect 3,000 books for low-income and homeless children.

You'll be able to drop off items Friday at Wilson Farm Park located at 500 Lee Road in Chesterbrook.

Several additional sites are added on Saturday, including Silicon Gallery at 139 N. 3rd Street in Old City and Swarthmore Community Center at 715 Harvard Avenue in Delaware County.
