No Special Security Plans For Philly Pride Parade

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thousands attended the Philly Pride Parade and Festival at Penn's Landing with heavy hearts after the horrific events in Orlando rocked the LGBT community.

For nearly three decades the Pride Parade and Festival has been a fun-filled safe haven for the LGBT community.

Senior coordinator Chuck Volz says this year's security plan was no different, despite the tragedy in Orlando.

"We've never had trouble in all our years doing it, and this is a gated event. You gotta pay to get in, so it's pretty secure here," said Volz.

There were uniformed and plain clothes police officers, as well as private security.

As always, there was a moment of silence to remember those who died in the past year, including the victims in Florida.
