No Real Election Day Surprises In The Garden State

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) --- In New Jersey, the election went about the way the pundits predicted.
Democrat Cory Booker earned his first full term in the US Senate. In the house, Republican Tom MacArthur outdistanced Aimee Belgard to succeed Jon Runyan in a bitter, expensive race.
"The campaign is over. Thank God it's over. The people have spoken and it's time for us to come together and get America working again," MacArthur said. "The voters chose substance over sound bites. They chose optimistic solutions over angry ideology."
Democrat Donald Norcross replaces former Congressman Rob Andrews while Republican Frank LoBiondo gets an 11th term in Washington. Republicans took 2 freeholder seats in Burlington County. Democrat incumbents held on to 2 freeholder seats in Camden County and 3 in Gloucester County.
Two statewide ballot questions, dealing with bail reform and open space funding, were approved.
