No Rash Decisions Expected From Those Appointed To Guide AC To Financial Health

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) -- So what can Atlantic City expect from the Emergency Manager and consultant appointed by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie this week? The two appointees insist they're not about to make any rash decisions.

Their mission is to guide the town toward fiscal stability. Both manager Kevin Lavin and consultant Kevyn Orr have a wealth of experience on that front. Orr, for example, helped guide Detroit out of bankruptcy. So will he suggest a similar plan for Atlantic City? Too soon to tell.

We prefer to do out due diligence very quickly now and get our feet on the ground on day one to provide, perhaps, to the Governor and others our impressions initially and then start from there to work with the stakeholders. So I think that's a little bit premature.

Neither man views his appointment as an opportunity to take over the city and stress they want to spend the next couple of weeks understanding the true nature of the mess they're charged with cleaning up.
