No Injuries Reported In NJ Storage Facility Standoff

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — No injuries were reported when a man armed with several weapons barricaded himself inside a storage unit at a southern New Jersey facility.

Gloucester Township police responded to the facility late Friday afternoon after Runnemede authorities notified them about a person who "may have had a change in mental status."

After confirming the man was at the facility, officers approached his 10-foot by 8-foot unit and discovered he had barricaded himself inside. They also soon learned that he likely had several weapons.

After negotiating with the man for about an hour, he surrendered without incident and was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. Further details on his condition were not disclosed.

Authorities say three rifles and two handguns were found during a search of the unit.
