Additional Security Provided Around Movie Theaters With Release Of Star Wars

PRINCETON, NJ (CBS) -- Following the recent attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness is asking the public to stay vigilant throughout the holiday season.

The NJOHSP says due to the targets selected in the attacks, it will be working with law enforcement to provide additional protection centered around mass gatherings, including movie theaters with the upcoming release of 'Star Wars: Episode VII.'

"Although there is no specific, credible threat to New Jersey or this film release, we feel these additional security efforts may deter potential nefarious activity around these facilities where large crowds are anticipated."

Director Rodriguez says, "In this new threat environment, it is incumbent on all of us to reinforce to our local communities and to the public the importance of being vigilant and reporting suspicious activity, especially as we enter the holiday season."
