Mother Who Killed Newborn By Setting Her On Fire Sentenced

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ (CBS) -- A 23-year-old Burlington County woman will spend the next 30 years behind bars for killing her newborn daughter last year.

Hyphernkemberly Dorviller admitted in late February that she took the infant to a road not far from her Pemberton Township home in January of 2015, put her down on the ground, doused her with WD 40 and set her on fire.

She had told witnesses she was burning animal waste but when the infant began to cry, she tried to flee, only to be restrained until police arrived. The child died after being rushed to a hospital.

Dorviller's family didn't know she was pregnant.

Her guilty plea to a single count of aggravated manslaughter avoided the need for a trial. She will have to serve 85 percent of the 30 year term before being eligible for parole.
