NJ Woman Dies In Crash Day After Celebrating 61st Wedding Anniversary

MARTINS CREEK, Pa. (AP) — An 82-year-old New Jersey woman killed in an eastern Pennsylvania crash had celebrated her 61st wedding anniversary a day before.

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek identified the woman as Ann Rodger, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

She was a passenger in a car driven by her 84-year-old husband, Carl, when a pile of rocks tumbled onto a road about 9:25 p.m. Saturday in Lower Mount Bethel Township. That's about 70 miles north of Philadelphia.

State police say Carl Rodger swerved to avoid the rocks and into the path of an oncoming pickup. The truck driver and his passenger weren't hurt.

But police say Ann Rodger died at the scene and her husband was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill where he was in the intensive care unit.
