UPDATE: Amber Alert Suspect Accused Of Abducting Daughter In Police Custody

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- New Jersey State Police say an Amber Alert suspect wanted in the abduction of his 3-year-old daughter is in police custody.

State troopers stopped Diomedes Valenzuela on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton, New Jersey just after 5 p.m.

Authorities say the girl, identified as Rebecca Valenzuela, is now safe in the hands of NJ State Troopers.

Earlier, State Police in New Jersey activated an AMBER ALERT to assist the New York City Police Department in locating the child.

Authorities say at approximately 1:00 p.m., 47-year-old Valenzuela is believed to have stabbed the child's biological mother and departed with a 3-year-old.

The suspect and child were traveling in a 2004, silver Dodge Caravan, bearing NJ registration K24ECS.
