NJ School Bus Driver Sentenced For DUI
MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) — A southern New Jersey school bus driver who admitted driving drunk with 25 students on board has been sentenced to three years in state prison.
Carole Crockett had pleaded guilty last October to child endangerment and drunken driving charges in a deal with Burlington County prosecutors. She was sentenced on Friday,
The 48-year-old Shamong resident was working for a private transportation company when she was arrested in November 2011 while driving students home from Westampton Middle School.
Many students texted or called their parents to report that Crockett was driving erratically. Several parents then called school officials, who called police.
Authorities soon found Crockett at another school, where she had gone to pick up another group of students.
