NJ Man Sentenced For Stabbing Roommate Over $50

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Lakewood man to 15 years in prison for stabbing his roommate over $50.

Marco Lopez must serve nearly 13 years behind bars before he'll be eligible for parole for his attempted murder and weapons conviction.

Authorities say Lopez stabbed Mario Vasquez in the Lakewood home they shared in 2014 after his roommate refused to give him $50. A doctor testified immediate surgery saved his life.
