NJ Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Girlfriend's Son

WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) --  A Gloucester County man has been charged with the attempted murder of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.

A grand jury on Wednesday also indicted 24-year-old Giovanni Crucitti of Washington Township on aggravated assault and child endangerment counts and possession of child pornography after an image was found on his cellphone.

He has been jailed since last December.

The Gloucester County prosecutor's office says the boy was taken to the hospital last Dec. 26 with internal bleeding and kidney failure. He has since recovered but requires monitoring and is living with relatives.

The boy's mother, 21-year-old Alyssa Barilaro of Washington Township, is charged with child endangerment. Prosecutors say she failed to seek immediate medical care for him.

It wasn't immediately known if Barilaro or Crucitti had attorneys who could comment.
