PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A New Jersey man is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence in connection with a fatal crash yesterday in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened just after 11 a.m. Thursday at Roosevelt Boulevard and Southampton Road.

Philadelphia Police say 24-year-old Nicholas Schinella of Robbinsville, Mercer County, was speeding southbound on the Boulevard, disregarded a red light, and struck another vehicle.

Schinella's vehicle went over that car and struck a pedestrian, 53-year-old Stanley Anderson, who lived a short distance away on Southampton Road.

Anderson was pronounced dead a short time later.

In addition, to homicide by vehicle while under the influence, Schinella is charged with involuntary manslaughter, causing death while not properly licensed and related crimes.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
