NJ Girl, 11, Electrocuted While Swimming With Friends

TOMS RIVER, NJ. (CBS) -- A sad scene in New Jersey over the weekend. A young girl has died. She was playing outside a home when she was electrocuted.

Toms River Police say the 11-year-old Newark girl was visiting friends Saturday night.

They were all swimming in a lagoon behind her friend's home when two of them touched the rail to a metal boat lift.

Police say an electric current appears to have energized the equipment.

There were adults present when this happened. They gave the 11-year old CPR until first responders arrived who took over the CPR before using an automated external defibrillator on the child.

The girl was taken to the hospital where she would later be pronounced dead.

The other two girls in the lagoon both juveniles weren't injured.
