NJ Flags To Fly At Half-Staff For State Trooper

TRENTON, N.J., (CBS) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has ordered all State buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Monday in recognition of the life and in mourning of the passing of New Jersey State Trooper Sean Cullen.

"Every day, the men and women of the New Jersey State Police put their lives on the line to protect our citizens," said Governor Chris Christie in a statement. "The sudden and tragic loss of New Jersey State Trooper Sean Cullen reminds us how fragile life truly is and the dangers police officers face daily on the job. As we mourn his passing, Mary Pat and I extend our heartfelt condolences to Trooper Cullen's loved ones and his New Jersey State Police family during this sad time."

Trooper Cullen was struck last Monday night while responding to a crash on I-295. He later died at the hospital.

Hundreds gathered Sunday to pay their respects to Cullen.

Funeral services will be held Monday.
