NFL Reportedly Going With Katy Perry For Super Bowl Halftime

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- According to Billboardthe National Football League has chosen to go with Katy Perry as the performing act for the next Super Bowl.

Perry has had a number of recent hit songs and seems to fit the mold of what the NFL is looking for in terms of an artist capable of drawing high ratings and attracting a wide demographic.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that said the NFL was considering Perry for the show along with Coldplay and Rihanna. There was also speculation that the league was looking for artists to pay the NFL to play the Super Bowl due to the massive ratings that the show generates.

Perry recently appeared on ESPN's College Gameday. When asked about possibly playing the Super Bowl she said "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."

Either Perry had a change of heart, or the NFL has budged on its stance.

No official word has come from the NFL at this point.
