Next Phase Of Work To Begin On Connecting I-95 And Pa. Turnpike

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Crews are preparing to start another phase of the construction project that will connect Interstate 95 with the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bucks County.

Crews are starting to erect flashing message signs and preparing to move barriers this week in preparation for start of construction on the ramp at the busy Bensalem interchange.

The actual construction is expected to begin sometime next week.

"There's going to be additional construction and that will be with the 95 project, as well as the Delaware River Bridge Extension," said Kathleen Walter, a spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, "which is for those motorists traveling to U.S. Route 1, that would be both eastbound and westbound."

Walter says there will be lane restrictions at the Bensalem interchange in this phase of the work.

The bridge construction and I-95 connections with the Turnpike are expected to be completed by May 2019.
