Newspaper Reporter Named Worst Job In America...Again

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –  Once again, newspaper reporter has been named the worst job in the nation by CareerCast.

It came in dead last for the second year in a row.

But what makes the job so bad? CareerCast says in order to make their list they review various critical aspects of the jobs listed, and then categorize them into four "Core Criteria" including: environment, income, outlook and stress.

They found newspaper reporters on average make $36,390 and the profession has negative hiring outlook.

Logger, broadcaster, disc jockey, enlisted military personnel and pest control worker rounded out the bottom of the list.

As for the top five best jobs, CareerCast says they would be: data scientist, statistician, information security analyst, audiologist and diagnostic medical sonographer.

"Opportunities across a variety of fields make data scientist not just a high-growth job, but also one of the most lucrative tracked by the Jobs Rated report," CareerCast says.
