Escaped inmate Shane Pryor: Caught on camera in Philadelphia's Olney section wearing different outfit: U.S. Marshals

New video shows escaped inmate Shane Pryor in Philadelphia corner store wearing different outfit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Newly released surveillance video by the U.S. Marshals Service of Shane Pryor shows the escaped inmate in different clothing about 90 minutes after he escaped custody on Wednesday.

The US Marshals Service said the video is from 1:30 p.m. at a business on Mascher and Godfrey.

In the video, Pryor can be seen wearing different clothes than when he escaped. At this time, he is wearing a bright blue sweatshirt, a hat and white sneakers.

Investigators said this is the last sighting of Pryor on video. The U.S. Marshals Service

As the search continues, the U.S. Marshals Service believes the 17-year-old is growing increasingly desperate as the manhunt is on its third day.

"I'm extremely confident we're going to find him. It's just a matter of when," Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark said.

The U.S. Marshals Service said they're working "around the clock" to bring him back into custody.

The ask from them -- Pryor's family and lawyer remains the same -- turn yourself in.

"Over the past two days, I've heard the family of Shane Pryor claiming his innocence for the murder for which he has been charged. However, it's my contention that flight is an indicator of guilt, and the longer Pryor stays on the run, the more desperate he becomes," Clark said. He later added, "If Shane Pryor wishes to contest his charges, he should be fighting his case in the courtroom and surrender to the nearest police officer immediately."

TIMELINE

On Friday, the U.S. Marshals provided an updated timeline of Pryor's escape:

  • 11:51 a.m. Wednesday - Pryor escapes Juvenile Justice Services Center custody. Police say he was originally taken to CHOP for a hand injury by escorting staff. When he got there, Philadelphia Police said he ran away while exiting the car. Clark added escorting staff did pursue the teenager on foot and was "almost in arm's length of him when they couldn't catch up to him."
  • 11:55 a.m. - Pryor is seen on video, released by the U.S. Marshals Service, inside the Hub for Clinical Collaboration. Investigators said the escaped prisoner asked to use a phone, but an employee didn't let him. They said he then left the building.
  • 11:57 a.m. - The U.S. Marshals Service said Pryor used a phone to call 18-year-old Michael Diggs after a woman on the street gave her phone to him. They said he told the woman he got in a fight and needed to call someone.
  • 12:29 p.m. - Diggs picks up Pryor on the 3500 block of Civic Boulevard, according to the U.S. Marshals. They said the two drove away in a cream-colored Ford.
  • 1:13 p.m. - The two are seen at the corner of Mascher and Godfrey, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. New surveillance video from the U.S. Marshals released Friday, shows Pryor inside a corner store at the intersection. He is seen in different clothes than when he escaped.
  • 2 p.m. - The U.S. Marshals Service said the two left the area.
  • 6:38 p.m. - Philadelphia Police stop the cream-colored Ford on East Logan Street and take Diggs in for questioning. The U.S. Marshals said Pryor was not in the car. Diggs was later criminally charged with helping Pryor escape.

"Right now, we're trying to shrink his world down," Clark said. "We're trying to cut off his resources. We're trying to cover every avenue of escape that he could have."

"Now that somebody's been arrested, people are starting to question. I need to distance myself from this individual because I don't want to go to jail, too," said Raymond Carr, who's a retired FBI agent.

Carr was involved in searches similar to this one during his career. He believes Pryor planned his escape.

"I feel very confident that he's still in the Philadelphia area because it takes money and it takes transportation to leave the Philadelphia area," Carr said.

Clark believes Pryor continues to have help.

"Anyone helping him, no questions asked, you're going to be prosecuted, as was demonstrated with Michael Diggs," Clark said.

The U.S. Marshals, too, believe Pryor is still within city limits. They are looking at Mayfair as an area of interest.

"We know that Shane Pryor has connections to Mayfair, so he's been stopped in Mayfair. I believe he has some brief criminal history in Mayfair," he said.

The U.S. Marshals Service continues to offer up to a $5,000 reward for any information leading to Pryor's arrest.

"Several dozen" news tips have come into the U.S. Marshals Service so far, they said in a press conference Friday, regarding Pryor; this includes several from out-of-state.
