New Traffic Pattern Designed To Help Eagles Fans Get Home A Little Easier

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia is ready for some football, and the Birds are back on Thursday night.

The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Linc for their first home pre-season game at 7:30 p.m.

But with the game comes the inevitable traffic jams afterwards. So this year, the Eagles and Philadelphia Police are tweaking some of the post-game traffic patterns hoping to keep the masses moving.

In an email to fans, officials warned that they may be directed on routes they are not used to taking, but they say the patterns are specifically designed to efficiently distribute traffic out of the sports complex.

Meanwhile, officials are encouraging fans to get comfortable with the new patterns before game day by reviewing new maps.

The maps provide an exit strategy for every parking lot, including a color-coordinated route with step-by-step directions.

Fans hope the new patterns work. They say even a little bit will help.

"It's a nightmare, everybody's aggressive and everybody want to be where they want to be, and people are confused, they don't always know where they're supposed to be going," Donna Piffer said.

"It's really hard getting out of here, were talking hours," Patrick Glass said.

For the first few weeks, parking lot attendants will be handing out hard copies of the maps as well.
