New Smoking Ban In Effect At Wildwood, North Wildwood Boardwalks

WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) — The new year also means some shore communities are cracking down on smoking.

As of Monday, it's now illegal to light up on the boardwalks in Wildwood and North Wildwood.

Both cities passed the smoking bans last year and asked people to voluntarily refrain from smoking before the law was in effect.

City leaders decided to outlaw smoking because they say the boardwalk is susceptible to fires and they are also concerned about the effects of secondhand smoke.
