New 'Selfie' App Promises To Make You Look Thinner In Photos

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Well, it doesn't seem like the selfie craze will be ending anytime soon.

And now there is a new app that helps you edit your selfies to look 5, 10 or 15 lbs. skinnier.

The app is called "Skinneepix" and according to its description, it promises to "make your photos look good and helps you feel good."

Selfie lover or not, there is a dark side to the new obsession. A survey by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) found that the selfie trend increases demand for facial plastic surgery.

In 2013, 58 percent of surveyed facial plastic surgeons saw an increase in cosmetic surgery or injectables in individuals under 30.

Thirteen percent of AAFPRS members surveyed identified increased photo sharing and patients' dissatisfaction with their own looks on social media sites as a reason for the rising trend.

For the selfie lovers who are wondering, the app costs 99 cents.
