New Red Light Cameras Installed In Northwest Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Drivers, take note.

The city has announced its newest red light cameras will be activated at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20th.

The latest red light camera site is in Northwest Philadelphia at the intersection of Stenton and Ogontz Avenues near both the Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ and Wagner Middle School.

Officials say the warning period for these cameras is 45 days. Drivers found violating red lights at the intersection will receive warnings in the mail during the grace period, which ends March 5th at midnight.

Following the warning period, violators will face a $100 fine.

City officials say the new cameras put Philadelphia's red light camera total at 115.
