NJ Transit Reveals Plans For WMOF And Papal Visit

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) -- NJ Transit announced it will offer limited special service on its Atlantic City Rail Line and River Line for those wishing to attend the World Meeting of Families and Papal visit in Philadelphia at the end of September.

NJ Transit says during the weekend of September 26-27, it will not be operating regular weekend service on either the Atlantic City Rail Line nor the River Line.

However, special tickets will go on sale at noon on Saturday, August 15 for those planning to ride the Atlantic City Rail Line and River Line.

Officials say the lines will operate on a limited schedule both days.

NJ Transit says no one will be permitted to ride without a special event ticket and no tickets will be sold on September 26 or September 27.

"With nearly two million people expected to attend the World Meeting of Families and Papal visit in Philadelphia, NJ Transit will accommodate as many passengers as its system safely allows. Unfortunately, these safety and capacity limitations mean only a fraction of the anticipated passenger demand can be met," said Veronique "Ronnie" Hakim.

"We have put forth a transportation plan that will get as many people as possible, as close as possible to Philadelphia, all with an eye on safety."
