New Jersey Man Shot And Killed During Hunting Trip With His Dad

WEST WINDSOR, NJ. (CBS) -- A man was shot and killed during a hunting trip with his father in West Windsor, New Jersey, according to police.

It happened around 4:00 p.m. Saturday along the 1200 block of Old Trenton Road.

Police responded to a report of a hunting accident and arrived to find a 45-year-old man in a nearby patch of woods with a gunshot wound to the neck and head area. Investigators believe the bullet came from his own firearm.

Attempts to save the man's life were made, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the victim and his father were hunting Canadian Geese and that they were properly licensed to hunt the birds.

The investigation is still ongoing, but authorities said they believed the incident was a tragic accident.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.
