New Jersey Man Sentenced For Sharing Child Porn Online

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A northern New Jersey man has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for sharing images of child sexual abuse from his home computer.

Prosecutors say 34-year-old Manuel Fernandez, of Wayne, also must register as a sex offender and forfeit the computers and related accessories he used to commit the offense. He had pleaded guilty in May 2014 to distributing child porn online.

Fernandez admitted that between March 2011 and January 2012, he was a member of an online peer-to-peer file sharing network. He made child porn images and videos available for other members to download from his computer's "shared" folder.

In March 2011, an undercover law enforcement agent successfully downloaded multiple images and videos from Fernandez's computer. Authorities executed a search warrant at his home in January 2012.
