New Hotel Coming To Avenue Of The Arts
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new hotel is being built on South Broad Street.
The folks from Pearl Properties announced a new 220-room hotel being built on the Avenue of the Arts at Broad and Locust Streets.
"Cambria is the brand. It's owned by Choice Hotels, said Reed Slogoff, principal of Pearl Properties. "It's a select service hotel and we're going to be taking down what has been an old, out of use garage and opening up a flagship in Philadelphia."
Slogoff says the project is well on its way.
"We bought the real estate about a year ago and we've had to go through approvals, as well, and started the demolition, he said. "It's a long project, but the demolition will be done in August and then we'll start the ground-up construction portion in September."
The hotel will sport a spa, a pool, a national restaurant on the ground floor and a seasonal rooftop terrace.
It's expected to be completed in the Fall of 2017.
