New Group Offers Women With Heart Disease Support, Information In South Jersey

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new group at Virtua in New Jersey will give women with heart disease the support and information they need to stay healthy.

WomenHeart at Virtua is for women with heart disease who often feel they have no emotional nor educational support. Dr. Maria Duca, director of women's cardiology at Virtua North Division says patients will get a lot out of the meetings.

"Ask your questions, go though issues that you're having, find out that you're not alone, and that it's difficult to have a family and take care of yourself. There's also nutritionists that will be going, it's a whole program to help them prevent future events."

She says the program is run by female cardiac patients who understand what other women may be experiencing.
