New Dilworth Park Open For Business In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Dilworth Park, formerly known as Dilworth Plaza, reopens in Center City Thursday after two years of construction.
Workers removed fences and orange cones blocking off the area overnight on the new park located at the base of City Hall that connects the Avenue of the Arts with the Ben Franklin Parkway.
Mayor Nutter kicks off a weekend full of celebrations Thursday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. and other city officials are expected to be in attendance.
"I think it's going to be great for the city," this commuter tells KYW Newsradio. "It's a new and upcoming attraction. I think the city needed a facelift. It's going to be great for tourists to come in."
Dilworth Park stretches over 120,000 feet. It has new elevator entrances for SEPTA train and trolleys, an outdoor cafe and an ice skating rink in the winter among other features.
