New Comedy Club Takes Center Stage In Fishtown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Fillmore in Fishtown has a new neighbor, and it's all about the laughs.

Located off Canal Street, near Delaware Avenue, Punchline Philly, is the city's first brand new comedy club in a decade and it's footsteps away from the Fillmore.

Jason Bray is General Manager for Live Nation's Clubs & Theaters in Philadelphia and says this new club fits the needs of the city.

"It's rounding out what we're looking at as entertainment in Fishtown."

He says the year-long project transformed the former Dry Ice Corporation building into three-hundred seat comedy club, fully equipped with an outdoor patio, two bars, a full kitchen and menu. This is also the first time Live Nation has opened a comedy club outside of California.

"We had the opportunity to do it from scratch, take everything that we learned and do it right."

Upcoming line ups include Joe DeRosa and Bill Bellamy. Part of the proceeds of each ticket will also go to Philabundance. Details are at punchlinephilly.com.
