By David Madden

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) -- Longtime Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton has taken the reins of the County Prosecutors Association of New Jersey and has some plans for his one year term in that position.

Dalton's role is to coordinate with fellow prosecutors and the state Attorney General to work on issues of mutual concern.

"We want to advance various initiatives that are going to improve safety for communities throughout the state of New Jersey and to learn from each other."

He wants to work on drug addiction and mental illness within the criminal justice system. Specifically how to balance special needs in those areas while making sure repeat offenders get a just punishment.

Governor Christie has his own addiction program being implemented in the state; one that Dalton supports and believes can even be improved a bit.
