New App Helps Police Better Communicate With Neighborhoods They Serve

By Chelsea Lacey-Mabe

KENT COUNTY (CBS) -- Delaware State police are hoping to better communicate with the neighborhoods they serve with the help of a new app.

The Nextdoor app allows residents to post about things related to their area like needing a babysitter, organizing a garage sale or even alerting residents to a car break-in on their block—information that would help serve local law enforcement.

People can sign up with their email and street address either online or by downloading the app for free.

A press conference will be held in Camden at the police department off of South State Street on Thursday at 1 p.m. to discuss the potential the new tool has to offer the community.
