Netanyahu: Trump Feels 'Very Warmly' About Israel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reveals in an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes" that he welcomes the presidency of Donald Trump.

"I know him very well," Netanyahu says in an interview that will air Sunday. "And I think his attitude, his support for Israel is very clear. He feels very warmly about the Jewish state, about the Jewish people, and about Jewish people. There's no question about that."

Netanyahu also talks about his frosty relationship with President Barack Obama, which peaked over the Iran deal. Netanyahu slammed the deal in a speech before Congress in 2015.

"I had differences of opinion with President Obama and most well-known, of course is Iran," the prime minister told "60 Minutes."

Despite the differences of opinion, Netanyahu said it wasn't personal between himself and Obama.

"No, I don't think so. Supposed we had the greatest of personal chemistry," Netanyahu said. "You think I wouldn't stand up against the Iran deal if I thought, as I did, that it endangers the existence of Israel? Of course I would."

Trump promised to "dismantle" the Iran nuclear deal during the campaign.

"It is hard to believe a president of the United States would actually put his name on an agreement with the terrorist state Iran that is so bad, so poorly constructed and so terribly negotiated that it increases uncertainty and reduces security for America and our allies, including Israel," Trump wrote in an op-ed in the USA Today in September 2015.

Trump also has vowed to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
