National Constitution Center Kicks Off Flag Day With Grand Re-Opening

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a months-long hiatus for renovations "Freedom Rising" takes the stage again at the National Constitution Center's Sidney Kimmel Theater on Flag Day.

Now, there's new seating, new carpeting, and a better audio and visual system.

Performances were put on hold back in January while improvements were made.

"The superb upgrades to the Sidney Kimmel Theater ensure that Freedom Rising, the longest running show in Philadelphia, will be a state-of-the art production for years to come," said Jeffrey Rosen, President and CEO of the National Constitution Center. "Freedom Rising tells the story of the American quest for liberty and it inspires Americans of all perspectives."

The upgrades will help the center host a greater range of events.

The Sidney Kimmel Foundation provided a $2 million grant for the project.
