Muslims Around The World Celebrate End Of Ramadan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Muslims around the world are celebrating the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. The fasting from sunrise to sunset is over.

Inside the mosque, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community go through prayer rituals led by president Mujeed Chaudahary. He says it's a challenge of self-restraint to go a month without eating or drinking during daylight hours.

"We do it so we feel the pain and hunger of those who don't have it. So that will motivate us to do sacrifices for those who are less fortunate."

Affan Syed says it was a tough month, but it's all worth it. And he's thrilled so many others are here to celebrate.

"Praying to Allah, getting forgiveness. Asking for mercy from Allah. So this makes me very happy. Actually, there's a lot more people here than usual than I've seen before."

And the prayer session ended with a large meal for everybody.
