Music May Have Medicinal Benefit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It is stressful to be sick and, depending on the nature of the illness, the stress can be greater.

Certainly, heart disease is one of the most stressful health conditions. Now there is a report looking at an inexpensive but quite effective method to reduce that stress.

Listening to music may help heart patients, and other patients as well, reduce their stress and anxiety when undergoing treatments. There have also been a series of studies where there has been evidence that music could help boost mood as well.

Some of the best treatments in healthcare have nothing to do with medications, procedures or labs. It comes down to a healthy approach to care.
