Muhammad Ali's Special Connection To Philadelphia Recognized

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia city council honored the late Muhammad Ali Thursday, presenting a proclamation to his daughter at a ceremony in City Hall.

Council members had some fun with Ali's famous epigraph "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee," but Councilman Allen Domb says Ali's legacy goes far beyond boxing:

"His dedication and support of issues such as human equality, social justice and cross cultural understanding have and will continue to be revered throughout the United States and the world."

Accepting the proclamation, Khaliah Ali-Wertheimer said the city had a meaningful role in her father's life, both professionally....

"What's my dad without Joe Frazier? There's no Ali without Frazier."

…and personally:

"Philadelphia in inextricably bound to everything that he'll forever be that's vital, that's present in each and every one of us. It's love."

She says the proclamation will go in the Ali Museum, at his childhood home, in Louisville.
