Mourners Come Together To Remember Christina Grimmie's Life

MEDFORD, N.J. (CBS) -- "She was fun and spunky and she just always wanted to please people and be happy," said Karen Davis said of the rising star whose light dimmed too soon. Mourners came together on Friday for a public viewing to remember the life of singer, and New Jersey native, Christina Grimmie.

Officials say Kevin Loibl, from St. Petersburg, Fl., gunned her down last Friday night after a performance in Orlando.

"I think it was a shock," said Pastor Don Hay of Fellowship Alliance Church. "It was painful. She had an amazing trajectory in terms of where she was going, where her life was going and to have it end so quickly, so suddenly, so violently, it was a shock to a lot of people, especially the young people."

After leaving for California to pursue music, Grimmie returned to Evesham Township several times to perform. Many of her fans came out to the Fellowship Alliance Church to say goodbye.

"We're hoping today is more of a day of a celebration of all the people that she touched," Evesham Mayor Randy Brown said."
