PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A 52-year-old motorcyclist dies after crashing into three vehicles on Allegheny Avenue Saturday night, police say. The victim has been identified as Benjamin Ortiz Gines of Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Ortiz Gines was riding a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle when he approached a red light on Allegheny Avenue and Janney Street. He attempted to pass between a vehicle waiting in traffic and vehicles parked along the right curb line. He struck two parked vehicles on the curb and a car in traffic, police say.

Authorities say Ortiz Gines was not wearing a helmet.

Medics responded to the scene and Ortiz Gines was pronounced dead around 10 p.m. Saturday.

The parked vehicles were unoccupied and the driver of the third car involved did not suffer any injuries, officials say.

Police are now further investigating the fatal crash.
