Police: 19-Year-Old Mother, 1-Month-Old Baby Injured After Stray Bullet Enters Strawberry Mansion Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 19-year-old mother and her 1-month-old child are recovering after a stray bullet entered a home in the city's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood. The incident happened around 1:45 p.m. Monday on the 2500 block of North Myrtlewood Street.

Police say a gunshot, fired two blocks away, went through the woman's front door and hit drywall.

Police say the woman and her newborn suffered scratches either from drywall debris or trying to get out of the way.

They were both taken to Temple University Hospital and expected to be OK.

Authorities found shell casings on the scene.

No arrests have been made.

An investigation remains ongoing.
