More Than Just Academics As Philadelphia School Arranges a Sisters' Reunion

By Tony Hanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As it gave out academic awards to seniors this morning, a Philadelphia charter high school in center city had a special presentation for one senior:  her sister, serving in the United States Air Force, had returned home early for Christmas.

Airman First Class Schen Gordon, 21, ran and embraced her sister, Shai, as the entire senior class at the Charter High School for Architecture and Design -- and staff -- cheered wildly.

Shai Gordon didn't see this coming.

"I'm really surprised," she said.  "I was so confused when they called me up.  I am really surprised!"

Tears flowed.

"It is so exciting," said Schen Gordon.  "I'm so nervous, my hands are shaking. I haven't seen my little sister in so long.  I am super excited. I am home for the holidays."

Airman Gordon has been in training since March, now at the Defense Language Institute, in California.

Other family members were also on hand to savor this heartwarming holiday surprise.
