More Than 700 Accidents And 8 Fatalities Reported In Pa. During Christmas Holiday

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) – Pennsylvania State Police say that during the five-day Christmas holiday, they investigated more than 700 vehicle crashes.

According to the data released Monday, police investigating 728 total crashes between Dec. 24 and Dec. 28, 2014. Eight people died in those accidents, and 224 were injured.

Of the 728 crashes, 98 were alcohol-related. Three-hundred-twenty-seven people were arrested for DUI and nearly 4,000 speeding citations were issued.

Last year, eight people also died and 255 were injured in 900 crashes investigated by police during the same time period.
