Montgomery County's Top Prosecutor Looks Back At 23 Years In Office, The Past 8 As DA
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- After 23-years in the Montgomery County District Attorney's office, including eight as the county's top prosecutor, Risa Ferman is heading to the bench as a Common Pleas Court judge.
Her proudest accomplishment in her time as DA, Risa Ferman says, is the changes her office made to help protect victims, especially, she says Mission Kids, the child advocacy center.
"We completely changed the way we respond to child abuse and violence in the way we handle our victims."
But after 15-years in a leadership position in the office as first assistant and then as DA, she says she won't miss always having her phone at her side.
"The office really does come before most other things in life as a practical matter, you can't just turn off the phone and figure it will go away or someone else will handle it."
She admits there have been missteps along the way, but she says she thinks the office was able to rise to those challenges. Ferman will be sworn in as judge on January 5.
