Montco Pediatrician Accused Of Having Sexually Explicit Images Of Children On Phone

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A physician has been charged after sexually explicit photos of children were found on a cell phone belonging to the medical practice, according to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.

Authorities say the Montgomery County Detective Bureau was contacted on November 28 by a nurse practitioner at Personal Care Pediatrics in Pennsburg where David Kennedy, 48, was a physician.

The Detective Bureau was informed of a cell phone belonging to the practice that contained sexually explicit images of children.

Police revealed that the nurse practitioner had been given a new iPhone by the office in order to handle after-hours calls for the pediatrician's office over the Thanksgiving holiday.

While using the phone, authorities say she discovered sexually graphic photos of children and other sexual images.

Officials say the investigation revealed the images belonged to Kennedy.

Kennedy was arrested on November 28 and charged with five counts of sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communications facility.

His bail was set at $250,000.

Authorities say he failed to make bail and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Montgomery County Detectives at 610-278-3368.
