Montco Hair Salon Gives Free Makeovers To Homeless Women

By Cherri Gregg

WYNCOTE, Pa. (CBS) - A Montgomery County hair salon gave free hair makeovers to dozens of homeless women as part of its' fourth annual Christmas Eve charity event.

They snipped, blow dried and curled for eight hours Wednesday.

"They come in one way and go out smiling and glowing and flowing their hair," says Harriet Adams.

Adams is one of a dozen stylists from XQuisite Hair Design in Wyncote that craft hair dos for 50 women from four local shelters.

"These ladies here invited us to come here to get our hair done...like who does that?" asks Wanda Jackson.

Jackson Lives in the Woodstock Family Center in North Philadelphia. She says she's grateful:

"They very kind, they're very gentle, you know. And they're smiling continually and doing this all for nothing."

In addition to new hair dos, the ladies got Century 21 gift bags, gently used clothes and a luncheon..with rave reviews.

And the real gift was something money can't buy...beauty.
