Montco Deputies Arrest 11 For Outstanding DUI Warrants

By Brad Segall

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Sheriff's deputies fanned out early this morning across Montgomery County, knocking on doors and looking for people who have outstanding warrants for charges of driving under the influence.

Two o'clock in the morning, the defendants are sound asleep, and then comes the knock in the door.

That's what happened in several communities this morning, where deputies took eight people into custody. Three others turned themselves in later in the day.

One woman taken into custody had five outstanding DUI warrants.

Montgomery County sheriff Russell Bono says the message should be clear:

"Unless they want to see a Montgomery County sheriff knocking on their door at one or two o'clock in the morning and get them out of bed, they should get in here, fulfill their obligation, answer their subpoenas, (and) honor their court dates," he said.  "Or else we're going to come for them."

Bono says it goes without saying that it is important to get these defendants off the streets before they get behind the wheel again and drive intoxicated.  He says his department is setting up a dedicated social media page focused on the most-wanted DUI offenders.
